Dear Julia:

I am trying to locate for a friend a CD from the '80s called "The Cold".  I was told that they were a group from New Orleans.  I personaly have never heard of them.  If you can help me out, thanks!

Finally, a question that cashes in on my musical expertise.   I used to do a mean Gladys Knight impression, until Poydras insisted on singing the Pips parts.  I could also do Cher, but I didn't even want to imagine Poydras as Sonny.  So I'm left writing about other people's recordings.

Members of this local '80s band included lead singer Barbara Menendez and Kevin Radecker as well as Vance DeGeneres (yes he's Ellen's brother).

The Cold's CD Three Chord City, as well as the group's vinyl albums and singles, are available from:

The above photo is from a TGIF at Loyola University and was submitted by Greg Kinskey, who was an A&S student at Tulane from 1978-82.  While there, he was a photographer for both the weekly newspaper The Hullabaloo and for the yearbook The Jambalaya.  Greg writes "My friends and I were into New Wave and dancing, so this led naturally to the Cold.  We'd see them around town and I would photograph them occasionally.  Anyways, we loved the Cold and they provided the atmosphere for some of my best memories for college."
