FIGARO JULY 28, 1980
The Cold has been inactive for several weeks due to singer Barbara Menendez's auto accident, which resulted in a broken nose, contusion of the left leg, assorted bumps and bruises, and a totalled Galaxy.
An anxious public awaits the outcome of her mishap: will she still be able to do the pony and the mashed potato? Will her newly designed nasal passages support her strenuous singing style? And what about the face that charms the patrons of local new wave venues? Well, Ann-Margret looked better than ever after her celebrated accident, and we're sure Barbara has come through in similar fine fettle, even without the benefit of plastic surgery.
But as the old saying goes, and as Donna Douglas found out in The Twilight Zone, you never know until the bandages are off. And they'll be off by this week-end when The Cold will come back, much in the manner of Alec Gifford.
